For those of you who have been turned away for low iron, the following foods are recommended:
   * spinach, lettuce
   * baked potato, watermelon
   * greens (turnip, mustard, collard, spinach)
   * raisins, prunes, prune juice
   * beef, liver, lean meat, seafood
   * cereals (iron fortified), dried beans
You may want to start now to include more of these food items in your diet.

A few other tips to help with your iron level:  avoid drinking iced tea prior to donating and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun the week prior to donating.

Please contact Florida's Blood Center at 1-888-9-DONATE to see if you are eligible to donate.  Standards are continually changing so, just because you may have been refused once, does not mean that you can never donate.  Please try again.

NOTE: A photo ID (with both your first and last name) is required for all donors.
