Your Chance for Fame

By Glenn Arnold

Riverside is one of the few churches that continue choir throughout the summer and continue throughout the year with weekly rehearsals.  We do cancel once in awhile, but this is rare and we present an anthem each Sunday.  Of course, we grow very small during the summer months and then during the winter time we have many winter visitors and affiliate members that swell our ranks.

We are looking for new members at the present time and invite you to come and sing with us.  You will find that it is rewarding and fun.  We are known for our fun loving times that we have together and want to you be a part of our membership.  Why not come and just sit in for a rehearsal to see what goes on?  We promise you will enjoy the experience.

I would be delighted to have you and you don’t have to have a solo voice or even read music.  There are no “tryouts” and there is also no pay check but the reward is very great and you will enjoy the experienced.

We meet on Thursday evenings at 7:30 pm in the choir room (in the Chapel building).  You might feel that you cannot give every Thursday, so why not consider coming once or twice a month and sing with us as we are planning ahead all the time and your presence would add when you have time to sing.  You will soon find that your Thursday evening is not complete unless you are with us. (We will keep you up on all the gossip if nothing else).  Our parties are outrageous fun too!

We are already on Christmas music and with this hot weather, what better way to cool off than to sing a carol or two.  Remember… a choir does not just happen unless someone is willing to come and give of their time.  “But I can’t carry a tune in a bucket”, you say!  Hog wash!  That is an old wives’ tale ‘cause we don’t use buckets anyway!  When was the last time you ever saw a choir member bring a bucket on Sunday morning?

Seriously, give it some thought, especially those of you who have just joined our church and need to get to know people.  We have many husbands and wives that come and sing together.  It is a good night out and costs nothing and during the winter months you don’t have to dress up to come to church… we will give you a robe to wear.  Choir robes cover up a multitude of mismatched outfits.  A choir robe is sort of like a Kilt, haven’t you ever wondered what is under there?  Well…give us a try!

Speak to any choir member about being part of our organization or email me at  glenn@riversidepres.org for more information.
