Lenten Series

Feb 17 - Mar 24

Come and be a part of a small group as together we will learn to understand God’s word and to support each other through prayer and action as we approach the holy day of Christ’s resurrection.   The series will begin February 17th and conclude March 24th.  Signup sheets will be available beginning Sunday, January 10 at the Box Office in Fellowship Hall.

“Lord, Teach Me To Pray” led by Karin Robinson

We will explore prayer in many forms such as praying with our hands and bodies, praying through creative arts, and praying with prayer aids.   We will look at great and familiar prayers and learn about the different types of prayers.   There will be discussions of some weighty questions such as “Why pray?”, “What do I pray for?” and “What about unanswered prayer?”  Participation and sharing are encouraged but you will not be required to pray aloud.  The purpose of this class is to open up your prayer life in new and challenging ways to deepen your relationship with God.

“Understanding Spiritual Gifts” led by Jak Burton

This series will help you understand Spiritual Gifts and how they operate.   You will learn to understand how other gifts respond to your gift.   You will be shown where your gift fits into the Body of Christ so you can be best utilized for the Kingdom of God.   For many, this is a class that will free you and empower you for ministry and service.

“Science and the Church” led by Fred Robinson

In this six part series, we will examine and discuss the background and history of science and the lives and work of some of the most significant scientists such as Copernicus, Leonardo da Vinci, Galileo, Isaac Newton, Einstein and Darwin.  The work of such men and others in fields such as studies of the universe, physics, medicine, invention and the evolution of life forms, has sometimes conflicted with religious beliefs.  Nevertheless both science and faith continue to be taught, absorbed and resilient.

“Micah: Righting Your Boat When the Waves Come Crashing” led by Bob Early

This is a six week look into the writings of the Old Testament prophet, Micah.  Each week we will investigate specific sections of Micah’s oracle, including why he was called the prophet of doom and what led him to become so optimistic in his latter days.   You will be challenged in your faith and comforted by God’s Word as we journey together through the season of Lent.
