We welcome you to worship on this Music Camp Celebration Sunday!
This past week, we have been blessed with 28 wonderful children here on our church campus to participate in our Riverside Music Camp 2016. Using our theme of “God’s Great Symphony”, they have received instruction in the recorder, hand bells, and singing! They have also learned through Scripture and story that God created the earth and all that is in it, that we have each been created in God’s image, and that we have a special responsibility to take care of the many beautiful things that make up our wonderful world.
Today we will continue to explore the exquisite poetry of the first chapter of Genesis – a grand symphony of words that fill us with amazement as we consider the wondrous mystery of our Creator God who speaks all things into existence. As we read it aloud, we can hear its rhythm, its resonance, its beat.
Let us also remember this day that the Creator God who calls forth life from the waters of the deep is the same God who calls each of us to new birth in the waters of baptism. God names us and calls us to live out our new life in this world that God loves so much. We do so as children of God, in the name of Christ, and by the power of the Holy Spirit.
In Christ,
George Spaeth, Elder
