PURPOSE of PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN
Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves:
- to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study,
- to support the mission of the church worldwide,
- to work for justice and peace, and
- to build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (USA)
- and witnesses to the promise of God’s kingdom.
PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN’S AREAS OF INVOLVEMENT
FELLOWSHIP OF THE LEAST COIN
In this “Fellowship of Prayer,” each woman makes a covenant to set aside a penny each month as a visible symbol of her membership. Once a year the coins are gathered and sent to the national treasurer and then to the world treasurer to be used in special mission projects on every continent.
TWO CENTS A MEAL
This project gives an opportunity for each woman to give 2 cents a meal each month to help feed the starving people of the world where the need is greatest. PATH –Presbyterian Answer to Hunger.
In January, members and friends of the congregation, through Church World Service, donate money to purchase blankets to be sent to those in need due to disasters in their areas.
In the spring a special Birthday Celebration Offering will be given for causes at home and overseas for a succession of new and often innovative mission projects.
Traditionally, Presbyterian Women have given a special offering during the month of October as a gift of thanksgiving to be used for special mission projects. One-third of this offering will be used to support Medical Mission throughout the world.
